Q: Howcome my old armors haven't been upgraded?
A: They were hoping you'd forget and start a thread about "top 10 things you'd love to dress your dolls with in ch3" instead...

Rember that axe that would allow two mods of the same type on it that Anet had to fix.
When they did a global change, it striped any mods aka turned what every you have in to a "basic" type of that item. So the code they have now may strip runes, dyes, etc.
Also notice how a lot of items after change affect only future items. Or even the Major Rune change, all previous runes (attached or un-attached to armor) only new ones are under the new system.
They do need time to create the NPC, program all the items affected (armor and weapons), and make sure the code does not strip any add-ons to the armor. It will come as soon as they have it ready for production.

Bingo. This is the correct answer. When ANet says "soon" they mean "sometime after today."
Dad: "I promise I'll get you a pony for your birthday sweetie"
*her birthday comes*
Girl: "Daddy! Where's my pony? You saaaaaaaaiiid!"
Dad: "I uh, got you this necklace, don't you like it?"
Girl: "Oooh, it's sparkly!"
Dad to himself: "Whew, can put the pony off another year"
ANet: "We promise we'll improve trading/storage soon."
*some time later*
Us: "ANet! Where's our improvements? You saaaaiiiiid!"
ANet: "We uh, look! We're introducing mini-pets!"
Us: "OMG THOSE R SO KEWL!!11"
ANet to themselves: "Whew, can put the improvements off for another year"
The similarities are freakish.

I believe that this argument is rubbish, and I will provide a counterexample as an explaination why:
Lieutenant's Helm.
When they changed it from 50% to 20%, they went through the entire database and changed all the helms, not just new ones. It didn't pop off any runes, it didn't change any dye jobs on the helms. Just the stats.
They have the technology -- they're just lazy about doing it.

since they are working on something major something minor will be put on the back burner. (and minipets were already a done deal for the 1 year aniversary so no time lost there)
remember the revamp is what was asked ....no...demanded by the players

the elite mission access revamp is a needed design change based on player demands. they don't have to do it, but they will to satisfy their customers.
the armor update is an even more necessary change based on the fact that it creates an imbalance. this is something they HAVE to do. when they released factions, they stated that no players of one campaign would have a distinct advantage over players of another. as it stands now, newer players or players who bought their new armors have an advantage over more established players who purchased their armors before the update.
i'm not quite sure where you get the idea that design change > imbalance fix. this is an imbalance that they advertised would not be here. it's something they need to fix and it needs to be on their priority list.
and in case any of you missed it, please read eudas' post regarding implementation. when they changed the lieutenant's helm, they made the change globally without any problems. the armors with the new stats already exist, and a global update is something that they can do.
the fact that they are making dedicated players wait is utter bullsh*t.

No, I think he is saying he bought FoW plate for the damage reduction (aka. AL) and now it's not as good as Dreadnaught's.
Regardless, unless they code like retards (which we all know they don't) changing the armor level or properties of armor should be nothing more than changing a global variable. The thing that is most likely taking time (and I'm guessing here because I can't honestly think of a good reason this would take more than a night's work at the most to just fix and test) is whatever they are coding to try and make the armor buff tie in with the Factions plot/metagame. Now this has no effect on my in the slightest but I can easily see how people who play in high level GvG would be annoyed.
It's a disadvantage to play a PvP character and also one to play a character with lesser armor. GvG is challenging enough without giving the other team a handicap....no matter how minute it might seem....

I'd agree with that, with one caveat.. There is one company out there that has even a broader definition of the word "soon". And it should be no suprise, it's Blizzard.
But seriously, it is funny that they have people who are practically attempting to FORCE money upon them (additional char slots) and they still can't get *that* done! :P (I'm joking around, don't flame me please).

I agree, but I have to say.. I have a level 20 Wammo with Drok's Glad's/Knights mixture. And at least 10 different times I've had people tell me that I need to get better armor. I tell them "umm, it's all the same after Drok's"... and half of them call me a noob! So some of these Einstein's actually think there is a difference. One guy actually said "what are you doing here in PRESEARING ARMOR?!?" Yes, seriously.

Did they update exsisting armor and weapons or does the update only apply to armor and weapons crafted/found post-update?

• Item Upgrades
Updates over the past several months have improved a number of weapons and armors; these updates applied only to newly generated items, not to items already in player inventories. This update applies past improvements to the following inventory items: Victo's Battle Axe, Drago's Flatbow, Stoneherder's Flatbow, Tarnok's Recurve Bow, the Bludgeoner, Flint's Wand, Korvald's Cane, Ivor's Smiting Rod, Brimstone Wand, Gordac's Needle, Bortak's Bone Claw, Ritualist Shaman's Obsidian Armor, Elementalist Aeromancer's Armor, Elementalist Geomancer's Armor, Elementalist Hydromancer's Armor, Elementalist Pyromancer's Armor, Warrior Knight's Armor, Warrior Ascalon Armor, Warrior Dragon Armor, Warrior Platemail Armor, Monk Censor's Armor, Monk Judge's Armor, Monk Wanderer's Armor, Monk Sacred Armor, Monk Saintly Armor, and Mesmer Rogue's Armor.
The old armor that was in people's Inventory, got updated in the 6/15/06 Update.
I'm so glad they upgraded all this stuff. I bought 15k Platemail dyed it all black, it was 85. When they made armor 90, I got pissed. So I held onto my platemail didnt buy nothing new but Kurzick 1.5k and now I got me 85 upgraded. ^_^
<3 Anet for the awesome update.

They say in the update that it applies to newly generated items, not to items already in player inventories.
Has anyone even bothered to check their own armor to see if the updated changed anything?
